We are happy to include advertisements in the programmes for our 2012 County Championships. A full A4 page advert for all four sessions of the Championships would cost £50 or a half page £25. If you wish to place an advert please email the copy to championships@bedscountyasa.com

The ASA have revised the guidelines for clubs wishing to apply for licenced
swimming open meets, this also includes the recommended minimum

ASA East Region Conference - 8/9th January 2011
Next year's Regional Conference will be held at the Belfry Hotel Cambrourne, Cambs. The final preparations are still being made with the speakers and CPD's to be announced shortly. The conference will be split into two parts as follows:-

County Championships – assistance required
The Executive today emailed county clubs for volunteers for the forthcoming Championships, if you are willing to assist please see your club secretary.
We are also looking for a volunteer to assist on the medal table for all sessions 2 to 9, ideally for continuity, we would like the same volunteer to do this task for all of the above sessions, failing this two volunteers, one for each weekend of the Championships. If you are interested please give your details to your club secretary.

Referee Examination Results
Congratulations to Joan Wheeler and Gerry Metcalf in passing the British Swimming Referee theory examination. ASA East Region had 8 passes out of a total of 26 within Gt. Britain. The County Association would like to thank those Referees who were involved in the training.

Important New Swimwear Rules
Current situation from 01-09-09 to 31-12-09 in relation to swimsuits for all competitions, except Masters.
In swimming competitions, the competitor must wear only one swimsuit in one or two pieces
which shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor past the ankle. No additional
items, like arm bands or leg bands shall be regarded as parts of a swimsuit.
From 1st January 2010
Following FINA Congress swimwear rules were placed in the Byelaws.
BL 8.2 In swimming competitions the competitor must wear only one swimsuit in one or two pieces. No additional items, like arm bands or leg bands shall be regarded as parts of a swimsuit.
BL 8.3 From January 1st 2010 swimwear for men shall not extend above the navel nor below the knee, and for women shall nor cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor shall extend below the knee. All swimsuits shall be made from textile material
