ASA East Region Masters Championships
Beds ASA has agreed that the ASA East Region Masters Championship will again be used to determine the Bedfordshire Masters results. Given the cost of pool and AOE hire there are simply too few masters swimmers in our small County to make a Bedfordshire Masters meet a viable option.
The ASA East Region Championships will take place at Newmarket on 6 October 2012.
Bedfordshire Masters Decathlon
Beds ASA has agreed a proposal from Masters Group for a Bedfordshire Decathlon. We will use the British Swimming Masters Decathlon points to determine the top Bedfordshire Male and Female Masters Decathlon each year, starting with the 2012 results. So, if you want to be the first winner of the Bedfordshire Masters Decathlon Trophy - enter masters events, swim well and earn points!

We finished in fourth place, an improvement on our fifth place of last year, and this year we scored 60 more points than last year. The report and results with splits are on the East Region web site www.eastswimming.org.uk/swim/
We also had 14 new County Masters records.
When the National results are known, I will send you the web link.

Bedfordshire County Masters Records
One of the first tasks for the masters group was to establish Bedfordshire County Masters Records. Keith Spence, helped by John Bellis and Paul Clarke, has worked hard checking the ASA data base for the long and short course times for Bedfordshire masters swimmers so that records can be agreed. At its meeting on 17 November, the Beds ASA Executive considered a report on Masters Records and agreed the conditions, claim forms and base line records. Current records, conditions and claim forms can be found in the records section in the swimming pages.A new Masters Secretary for Beds ASA
Paul Clarke has become the new Masters Secretary for Beds ASA. Agreeing to take on the post previously held by Pat Dowsett, Paul thanked Pat for her hard work over the last few years and for her efforts in organising a Bedfordshire Masters competition in July 2011.
Paul is currently establishing masters contacts in clubs throughout the county to agree how best to further develop masters swimming in Bedfordshire. If you have any views on this please contact Paul.
